Overview
Intersect MBO is the member-based organization that underpins Cardano’s decentralized governance. Formed to ensure that the Cardano ecosystem remains community-led and self-sustaining, Intersect acts as both a convenor and enabler - connecting developers, Delegated Representatives (DReps), project teams, and members to shape the blockchain’s future collectively.
Through its committees, working groups, and open membership model, Intersect develops governance frameworks, coordinates ecosystem initiatives, and supports transparency across technical, strategic, and financial domains. Intersect operates independently of IOG, EMURGO, and the Cardano Foundation, while collaborating closely with them to deliver on Cardano’s long-term vision.
Intersect is currently administering over 400 million ADA worth of initiatives on behalf of Cardano’s ecosystem and decentralized treasury, while also playing a key role in supporting tier-1 ecosystem integrations and operational coordination across a rapidly evolving governance landscape.
At its core, Intersect is about community governance in action, giving the people who build and use Cardano the power to guide its direction.
The Role
We’re looking for a Procurement & Legal Lead to help strengthen and mature our procurement, contracting and legal operations.
Reporting into the Director of Operations, and leading a team of one, this is a highly cross-functional role suited to someone who enjoys balancing commercial pragmatism with governance, legal awareness and operational enablement. You’ll partner closely with leadership, Finance, People, delivery teams, and external advisors to ensure Intersect can move effectively while managing risk responsibly.
This role sits at the centre of a fast-moving and highly visible operational environment supporting decentralized governance infrastructure, treasury-backed initiatives, ecosystem partnerships, and evolving regulatory considerations across a global organisation.
This role may particularly suit someone who:
- Is passionate about technology, blockchain, digital assets, and emerging governance models
- Enjoys operating at the forefront of evolving legal and regulatory landscapes
- Thrives in environments that balance innovation, ambiguity, and operational maturity-building
- Wants to play a meaningful role in supporting the future direction of decentralized infrastructure and ecosystems
As Procurement and Legal Lead, you will:
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Lead procurement processes across goods, services, consultants, and external partners
- Establish and maintain clear procurement standards, governance pathways, and documentation
- Support supplier onboarding, due diligence, and relationship management
- Help ensure procurement decisions align with value-for-money principles and organisational priorities
Contracting & Legal Operations
- Manage contracts, agreements, and legal documentation
- Coordinate contract review, negotiation, execution, and renewals
- Partner with external legal advisors where specialist support is required
- Support teams in navigating legal and contractual considerations in a practical, delivery-oriented way
Risk, Compliance & Governance
- Identify and manage procurement and legal risks across operational and delivery activities
- Support governance processes, audits, and compliance requirements
- Ensure contractual obligations and operational controls are appropriately tracked and maintained
- Contribute to improving organisational maturity around legal and commercial operations
Operational Enablement
- Provide clear, pragmatic guidance that helps teams move effectively without unnecessary friction
- Improve procurement and contracting workflows and documentation
- Balance delivery speed with proportionate legal and commercial safeguards
- Build trusted relationships across a remote-first, globally distributed organisation
Experience and attributes
- Strong experience in procurement, legal operations, contract management, or commercial operations
- Comfortable operating across legal, operational, and commercial contexts
- Experience managing contracts, contractors, suppliers, negotiations, and governance processes
- Strong judgement and ability to navigate ambiguity
- Clear communicator who can translate legal or contractual complexity into practical guidance
- Experience working within startups, scaleups, technology organisations, nonprofits, or globally distributed environments is highly desirable
Additional strengths (this will strengthen your candidacy)
- Understanding of blockchain, Web3, DAOs, or decentralized governance models
- Familiarity with legal and operational considerations across England & Wales and Wyoming-based entities
- Experience supporting remote-first or international organisations
Compensation and benefits
This is a remote-first position, with some expectations of travel when required. There is the option to collaborate in person in our London workspace (Tower Hill) if you are based in London.
As a globally distributed organisation of around 40 employees and contractors, we operate with a flexible and collaborative approach to work, united by a shared passion for supporting the future of the Cardano ecosystem and decentralized governance.
As a maturing startup, we continue to evolve our benefits offering to reflect our community-first values and global workforce.
Hiring process
The suitable candidate will be selected through a three-stage recruitment process. All interviews will be conducted remotely via Google Meets.
- Introductory Call: An initial conversation with our Head of People to confirm alignment and suitability for the role.
- Formal Interview: A detailed interview to assess experience and fit from both technical and team perspectives. This will likely include a take-home-task to complete and present in this interview.
- Final Stage: A competency-based assessment and additional opportunity to ask questions.
